Alan I. Kaplan
Alan Kaplan's practice centers on representing a diverse group of clients, with a special focus on advising cities and towns in Massachusetts concerning labor relations. Alan joined Morgan, Brown & Joy in 1972 after practicing law for several years in San Francisco, and has built a practice assisting employers in general employment advice, collective bargaining and arbitrations. For over forty years, Alan has gained deep experience representing management in all types of matters arising out of collective bargaining and union organizing efforts.
Alan was born in Roxbury, Massachusetts, attended Boston University and graduated from the University of Massachusetts, magna cum laude, in 1959, where he was a member of Phi Kappa Phi. Alan received his law degree from Boston College Law School in 1963, graduating summa cum laude, and he was a member of the Order of the Coif. He was also a member of the Boston College Law Review.
Alan is a member of the bars of Massachusetts; California, U.S. District Court, Northern District of California and U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit; U.S. Supreme Court; U.S. District Court, District of Massachusetts and U.S. Court of Appeals, First Circuit. He is also a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association (Labor Law Committee) and the American Bar Association (Practice and Procedure Committee, Labor Arbitration and the Law of Collective Bargaining Agreements Committee).
