Laurie Alexander-Krom
Laurie Alexander-Krom advises employers on a full range of employment law issues, including hiring, employee discipline and terminations, sexual harassment investigations, discrimination issues, wage and hour issues, leaves of absence, and reductions in force. Laurie drafts and revises employee handbooks and other workplace policies, along with negotiating and drafting non-competition, non-solicitation, and severance agreements. Laurie is a certified trainer through the MCAD’s Train-the-Trainer courses and regularly provides training for employers on such issues as sexual harassment, discipline and discharge, hiring and discrimination.
Laurie’s clients range from small non-profit organizations to large retail and manufacturing firms, and include clients from the biopharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. Laurie has extensive experience representing multi-state clients from various industries including automotive, hospitality, manufacturing, retail, telecommunications, construction, and real estate, at various federal and state administrative agencies including the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the U.S. Department of Labor, and the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office.
Laurie has extensive trial experience in state and federal courts. Prior to joining Morgan, Brown & Joy, Laurie was a member of the employment group at Davis, Malm & D’Agostine, P.C., during which time Laurie won a jury case, which was named one of the top employment law cases in Massachusetts for 2011 by Lawyer’s Weekly. Laurie has also defended Fortune 100 companies in state and federal courts against various employment related claims such as sexual harassment, race, gender, age, and handicap discrimination.
Laurie is a graduate of Muhlenberg College (B.A., summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, 1990), State University of NY at Albany (Masters in Social Work, 1992), and Northeastern University School of Law (J.D., 1997). Laurie is a member of the bars of Massachusetts, the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, and the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.
Laurie is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association, the Boston Bar Association and the Northeast Human Resources Association. Laurie has been recognized as a “Rising Star” (2008) and Massachusetts “Super Lawyer” (2011) in the field of employment law.
