Maura D. McLaughlin

Maura McLaughlin is a partner at Morgan, Brown & Joy, LLP. She was an associate with the firm from 1997 to 2003, and rejoined the firm in an Of Counsel role in 2011. Maura’s practice involves representing clients in state and federal courts and agencies on employment law matters, and she counsels clients on all facets of the employment relationship, including hiring, discipline and termination; drafting and revising employee handbooks; preventing workplace harassment and investigating/responding to claims of harassment; leaves of absence and accommodation issues; and wage and hour laws. She conducts training on unlawful harassment and other employment matters and is a graduate of the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination Certified Harassment Train-the-Trainer Program.

Prior to rejoining the firm, Maura worked in the Appeals Division of the Criminal Bureau of the Office of the Attorney General of Massachusetts from 2003 to 2008, where her practice focused on appeals and civil rights/constitutional issues, and served as Deputy Counsel to the Massachusetts Senate from 2008 to 2011. Maura is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst (B.A., magna cum laude) and of Boston College Law School (J.D., cum laude). After graduation from law school, she served as a law clerk to the Justices of the Massachusetts Superior Court.

Maura is admitted to the bar of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and is admitted to practice in the United States District Courts for the districts of Massachusetts, Vermont and the Eastern District of Wisconsin. She is also a member of the bars of the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States. Maura is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association (Employment Law Section), the Boston Bar Association (Labor and Employment Law Section), and the Women’s Bar Association.
