The NELA Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes attorneys who have left a lasting imprint on the legal community in New England, across all practice areas and firms of all sizes. The Regional Managing Partner of the Year Award allowed associates and partners to spotlight their favorite leaders in the industry and highlight the accomplishments, successes, and milestones of their firm’s Managing Partner.

DiGiovanni brings 50+ years of experience to his diverse clientele and has handled cases and issues in virtually all aspects of labor and employment law. Over the course of his illustrious career, he developed a particular niche in labor and employment matters affecting colleges and universities, focusing especially on collective bargaining with faculty, staff and graduate student unions, proceedings before state and federal labor board agencies, arbitration cases, advice on union organizing, and management training. As a result, DiGiovanni is one of the foremost authorities on higher education labor relations in the country and represents many institutions of higher education around the Northeastern region of the country.

Kugell is an established employment lawyer who counsels business owners and management through virtually every scenario surrounding the employer-employee relationship. As Chair of Morgan, Brown & Joy’s Management Committee, she brings strong leadership skills to clients, helping them to make important business decisions and manage their operations efficiently while minimizing risks. The New England Legal Awards stand as a distinguished celebration of professional excellence within the legal community across Connecticut, Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island.
