Morgan, Brown & Joy Adds Ashley M. Barnes as an Associate

Boston labor and employment law firm Morgan, Brown & Joy announces that Ashley M. Barnes has joined the firm as an associate. Barnes represents employers in labor and employment litigation and alternative dispute resolution proceedings involving claims such as workplace discrimination, retaliation, wage and hour violations, and contract disputes.

In her practice, Barnes guides clients from pre-litigation through resolution, helping management teams assess legal options, weigh potential risks and benefits, and make informed decisions about how best to proceed and achieve a favorable resolution. She represents employers in state and federal courts, before administrative agencies such as the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination (MCAD) and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), and in private arbitration and mediation.

Prior to joining the firm, Barnes was an associate at a mid-sized firm where she handled employment and commercial litigation matters. Her experience also includes representing clients in alternative dispute resolution proceedings before FINRA involving breach of fiduciary duty and unfair competition claims, and advising construction industry professionals, owners, and developers in litigation and transactional matters involving major construction projects.

Before entering private practice, Barnes began her legal career with the New York City Law Department’s Tort Division, defending the city and its agencies in civil rights, personal injury, and wrongful death matters. She later served in the Law Department’s Commercial & Real Estate Litigation Division, handling complex construction litigation and alternative dispute resolution proceedings.

Barnes received her J.D. from Brooklyn Law School and her B.S. from Boston University.
