Morgan, Brown & Joy Attorney Brendan T. Sweeney Completes BBA’s Public Interest Leadership Program

Morgan, Brown & Joy announces that attorney Brendan T. Sweeney has completed a one-year leadership training as part of the 2025 – 2026 class of the Boston Bar Association’s (BBA) Public Interest Leadership Program (PILP).

The BBA’s PILP provides intensive leadership training to rising stars in the Boston legal community. Sweeney was among a class of nearly 30 members selected to complete a year of monthly training sessions incorporating education, discussions, and participation in the BBA’s steering committees. In addition, Sweeney and fellow participants attended several programs, events, and meetings connecting with legislators, judges, non-profit executives, and corporate leaders throughout Boston. As a program graduate, Sweeney joins a growing network of over 250 accomplished alumni who provide mentoring and support to their successors.

Sweeney represents private and public sector employers in labor and employment matters. He advises managers, human resources representatives, and in-house counsel regarding all aspects of the employer-employee relationship, including personnel and disciplinary issues, reasonable accommodations and leaves of absence, investigating and responding to allegations of discrimination, crafting employee handbooks, policies, and employment contracts, and, when necessary, negotiating severance agreements. He also advises employers on breach of contract, non-competition, non-solicitation, and other commercial issues. In addition, he advises employers on traditional labor law issues, including collective bargaining, contract administration, and grievance management. When litigation is necessary, Sweeney represents employers in state and federal courts, before administrative agencies, and in arbitration.

The BBA’s Public Interest Leadership Program promotes civic engagement and public service by advancing the leadership role of lawyers in service to their community, their profession, and the Commonwealth. Each year, PILP welcomes a select group of talented and highly-motivated lawyers to participate in a year-long program designed to provide intensive leadership and professional development training. Participants learn from and connect with leaders in Boston’s public and private sectors to gain the critical skills and tools needed to grow as an effective leader and voice in the community.
