Morgan, Brown & Joy attorney Brendan T. Sweeney will present the Boston Bar Association (BBA) program, “Never Off the Clock: How Employee Statements About Public Events Can Impact the Workplace,” on November 17, 2025. Along with a fellow panelist, Sweeney will examine how employee social media posts and off-the-clock statements about topical events can create challenges in the workplace. The program will also feature a discussion of risks, implications, and best practices for making sure at-home statements do not become workplace problems. Sweeney represents private and public sector employers in labor and employment matters. He advises managers, human resources representatives, and in-house counsel regarding all aspects of the employer-employee relationship, including personnel and disciplinary issues, reasonable accommodations and leaves of absence, investigating and responding to allegations of discrimination, crafting employee handbooks, policies, and employment contracts, and, when necessary, negotiating severance agreements. In addition, he advises employers on traditional labor law issues, including collective bargaining, contract administration, and grievance management.
