Morgan, Brown & Joy Continues to Grow with Addition of Two New Associates

Boston labor and employment law firm Morgan, Brown & Joy continues to bolster its team of labor and employment attorneys with the addition of two new associates, Rebecca LaPierre and Brendan T. Sweeney.

LaPierre represents employers in labor and employment law matters, and advises in-house counsel, HR professionals and members of management from non-profits, municipalities, and businesses of all sizes. She advises on workplace issues and daily business matters such as employee discipline and discharge, leaves of absence, requests for accommodations, employment contracts, and restrictive covenants such as non-competition and non-solicitation agreements. She also represents clients in cases relating to both state and federal employment laws, including ADA, FMLA, FLSA, wage & hour, sexual harassment, discrimination, whistleblower and retaliation actions.

Prior to joining Morgan, Brown & Joy, LaPierre was an associate with a mid-size multi-service law firm in Maine, focusing her work in labor, employment and employment-based immigration law. LaPierre earned her J.D. (magna cum laude) from the University of Maine School of Law; a M.A. (with merit), Human Rights and Global Ethics, from the University of Leicester, England; and a B.A. (summa cum laude) from the University of Massachusetts.

Sweeney represents employers in labor and employment litigation in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies. He defends management from claims of discrimination, harassment, wage and hour violations, and wrongful termination. He also has experience with breach of contract, non-competition, non-solicitation, and other commercial issues facing employers.  In addition to litigation, Sweeney’s practice includes advising employers on all aspects of the employer-employee relationship, including personnel and discipline issues, disability accommodations and leave management, severance negotiations, and compliance with the complex and ever-shifting employment and labor laws.

Before joining Morgan, Brown & Joy, Sweeney was an associate at a small firm in Boston where his practice focused exclusively on employment law.  Sweeney earned his J.D. (cum laude) from Boston University School of Law and a B.A. (cum laude) from Boston University.
