Sean O'Connor

Sean P. O'Connor is an associate at Morgan, Brown & Joy, LLP, representing employers in a variety of labor and employment matters. Sean’s practice comprises of representing both public and private sector clients in labor and employment litigation, including claims of employment discrimination, retaliation, wrongful discharge, wage and hour disputes, non-competition violations, trade secret misappropriation and unfair labor practice charges, as well as advising clients in non-litigation matters such as employee investigations and discipline, separation and severance agreements and collective bargaining negotiations. He also advises on litigation avoidance techniques involving compliance with federal labor and employment laws, including the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, Title VII, COBRA, the National Labor Relations Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act and related state statutes.

Sean earned his law degree from Northeastern University School of Law in 2008 after having earned his degree in finance at the University of Maryland, College Park in 2004. While in law school, he served as a legal intern for Federal Magistrate Judge Robert B. Collings. Sean was also employed as a legal intern at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP in New York, NY and Grasty, Quintana, Majlis & Cia in Santiago, Chile. At his previous firms, Sean worked on various matters concerning international law, intellectual property law, contract law, sports law and alternative dispute resolution.

Sean is a member of the bars of Massachusetts and New York, and is also admitted to practice in the First Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts. He is also a member of the Labor and Employment Sections of the American Bar Association, the Massachusetts Bar Association, the Boston Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association.
