Mary Jo Harris to Present at MCLE on Employee Selection Exams & Criteria in the Hiring and Promotion of Private and Public Sector Employees (Boston, MA & Webcast)

Mary Jo Harris will appear as a panelist at the MCLE’s program “Employee Selection Exams & Criteria in the Hiring and Promotion of Private and Public Sector Employees” , held at the MCLE’s Conference Center in Boston, Massachusetts on September 27, 2010 from 1:30 – 5:30 p.m.  The event will also be aired in a national West webcast.

This program will address the pitfalls and dilemmas involved in selecting and promoting employees within large organizations in the aftermath of two ground breaking Supreme Court decisions, Ricci v. DeStefano and Lewis v. City of Chicago.  The program will address difficult issues such as reviewing selection procedures that can run afoul of disparate treatment or disparate impact analysis, adjusting the hiring procedure after the fact to increase diversity and the viability of affirmative action programs, and whether employers can review credit or criminal histories in making employment decisions.  The panel will discuss these issues in the context of both the public and private sector realms.
