Joseph P. McConnell

Joe McConnell is a partner with the firm. His practice includes both employment litigation and labor law. He handles cases in all areas -- including employment discrimination, wage and hour claims and general employment torts -- before various Federal and State courts, arbitrators, and administrative agencies (including the EEOC, NLRB, MCAD, Department of Labor, and the Attorney General's office). In addition, he represents clients in traditional labor law, both during union organizing campaigns and throughout the collective bargaining and grievance and arbitration processes. A significant part of Joe's practice also involves providing day-to-day employment law counseling and advice to human resources professionals and in-house counsel. His clients are in numerous industries -- including higher education, retail, financial services, insurance and traditional manufacturing settings.

A 1986 Brown University graduate, Joe earned his law degree from Northeastern University School of Law in 1993. After graduating from law school, Joe served as law clerk to Chief Justice Joseph R. Weisberger on the Supreme Court of Rhode Island. Joe joined Morgan, Brown & Joy the following year and became a partner in 2000. He is a member of the bar of Massachusetts and Rhode Island, and is also admitted before the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals for the First and Ninth Circuits and the Federal District Courts for Massachusetts and Rhode Island. He is a member of the Boston, Massachusetts and American Bar Associations, as well as the National Association of College and University Attorneys (NACUA), the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR), and the Brown Club of Boston.
