Keith H. McCown

Keith H. McCown has been a partner with the firm since 1987, and he has been involved with employment and labor law since his first professional job in 1975.

Like all of the attorneys at Morgan, Brown & Joy, Keith is an employment law generalist, handling cases in the Federal and State courts, before Federal and State regulatory agencies, and in alternative dispute resolution venues such as arbitration and mediation. Keith advises and defends clients on a wide range of employment law issues, including workplace discrimination, sexual harassment, wage & hour, Family and Medical Leave Act, and disability and accommodation claims, to name just a few.

Keith is part of a solid core of attorneys at Morgan, Brown & Joy with deep experience in traditional union-management labor law, private and public sector. In this element of the practice Keith deals with collective bargaining, grievances and arbitration, unfair labor practice proceedings, representation elections, election campaigns, and union avoidance advice.

Keith also has considerable background as a lecturer and trainer, including the original design and content of workplace training programs. He is a certified trainer through the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination.

After graduating from Oberlin College in 1975, Keith immediately began a career in labor and employment law by working for two years as a Field Examiner for the National Labor Relations Board in Cleveland. He then applied this work experience to Boston College Law School, graduating with honors in 1980. Before coming to Morgan, Brown & Joy in 1982, Keith worked at a large firm in the litigation department.

Keith has represented the full spectrum of employer clientele, including high tech, public utilities, manufacturing, service sector, health care, financial services, retail, transportation, independent schools, insurance, cities and towns, and public agencies. He is admitted to the bar in Massachusetts and Ohio, and admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court and the Federal courts in Massachusetts. Keith has been named to the "Best Lawyers in America" and has been selected as a Massachusetts and New England Super Lawyer.
