Boston Police Department Legal Advisor Joins MB&J
Mary Jo Harris, former Legal Advisor to the Boston Police Department, has joined the law firm of Morgan, Brown & Joy, LLP. As Legal Advisor, Ms. Harris headed a five attorney office representing the Police Commissioner of the Boston Police Department on all legal and risk management issues, including employment and discrimination matters, civil rights and constitutional issues, and training, supervision, policy development and implementation. Ms. Harris advised the Anti-Corruption Division and Internal Affairs Division on internal employee investigations, and worked closely with the United States Attorney, Attorney General?s Office, and the Suffolk County District Attorney?s Office on civil rights prosecutions.
Prior to becoming Legal Advisor, Ms. Harris was a trial attorney with the City of Boston Law Department and in private practice. She has tried employment and civil rights matters in both state and federal court, and has handled appellate cases before the Appeals Court, the Supreme Judicial Court, and the First Circuit Court of Appeals.
At Morgan, Brown & Joy, Ms. Harris will represent employers in labor and employment matters in litigation involving claims of discrimination and harassment, and will provide training on effective management techniques and new developments in employment law.
