MB&J Announces New Partnership Election

Morgan, Brown & Joy, LLP announced today that Mark M. Whitney has been elected to the partnership effective January 1, 2006.

Mr. Whitney practices in the field of employment law, specializing in management representation. He has experience representing employers and employees before administrative agencies and the courts in disputes arising under the myriad state and federal laws that regulate the employment relationship. An important part of Mr. Whitney’s practice is helping clients prevent such disputes by providing consulting services on a variety of employment law issues, such as risk management practices, personnel policies, and statutory compliance. Mr. Whitney was recently recognized as a Rising Star in the field of employment litigation by Boston Magazine’s Super Lawyers edition (May 2005).

A significant part of Mr. Whitney’s practice involves helping companies protect their trade secrets and other proprietary information, which includes evaluation of critical company policies and practices and drafting of various agreements. Mr. Whitney edits the Massachusetts chapter of the leading national legal treatise on noncompetition law. [Covenants Not to Compete: A State By State Survey (BNA 2004)]

Mr. Whitney was a member of the Mass. Bar Association committee that helped draft the MCAD – Sexual Harassment Guidelines. Mr. Whitney presently serves as an Editorial Advisory Board Member, for the The Public Sector FLSA Alert (published by Eli Research, Inc.). Mr. Whitney is a graduate of the University of Rochester (B.A. 1987) and Brooklyn Law School (J.D. 1993), where he was an editorial member of the Brooklyn Law Review and member of the Moot Court Honor Society.
