Boston labor and employment law firm Morgan, Brown & Joy announces that Courtney Evanchuk has joined as Counsel. Evanchuk, who formerly served as a corporate employment counselor at Liberty Mutual Insurance, brings over a decade of experience as a litigator representing employers in all aspects of labor and employment law.
Evanchuk advises management teams on day-to-day issues surrounding hiring, background checks, accommodations, leaves of absence, corrective action, reductions in force, and terminations. She also drafts and updates personnel policies and employee handbooks and conducts customized trainings. As a litigator, she defends clients against allegations of discrimination, retaliation, harassment, contract disputes, and wage and hour matters, among others in both state and federal courts, as well as before administrative agencies and tribunals.
Evanchuk’s experience also includes collective bargaining, contracts, management rights, and workforce matters related to unionized groups of people. She has handled arbitrations and negotiated labor settlements. The foundation of her labor experience stems from her time working as a labor and employment attorney for the Boston Public Health Commission. Working closely with the Commission’s executives, managers, and departments, she handled a broad range of contract matters, internal investigations, policy development, and litigation. She also delivered comprehensive trainings to prevent discrimination and harassment for Commission employees.
Prior to joining Morgan, Brown & Joy, Evanchuk was an attorney in the Employment Legal Group at Liberty Mutual Insurance Company in Boston, providing practical legal advice to executives, management and human resources teams. She also represented the company before administrative agencies and managed all phases of employment litigation. Her experience also includes working as a litigation associate at a regional law firm resolving a range of commercial disputes.
Evanchuk received her J.D. from Boston University School of Law and a B.A. from the University of Toronto, Trinity College.
