Morgan, Brown & Joy’s Joseph P. McConnell to Speak at BBA’s 2020 Virtual Employment Law Conference

Morgan, Brown & Joy attorneys Joseph P. McConnell and Andrea E. Zoia will participate in the Boston Bar Association’s (BBA) 2020 Virtual Employment Law Conference on November 12, 2020. McConnell will serve as a panelist for the session, “Putting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion into Practice in the Workplace,” in which he will discuss how to advise clients on affirmative action programs, pay equity, protected activities and retaliation. In addition, Zoia is serving on the Conference Advisory Committee.

McConnell is an experienced litigator and negotiator defending management on employment and labor law matters. Businesses, in-house counsel and human resources professionals look to his sophisticated experience to resolve their employment law needs. They rely upon his practical day-to-day employment law counseling to keep their businesses run smoothly. McConnell also adeptly guides clients through all labor law matters — during union organizing campaigns, in collective bargaining, and throughout the grievance and arbitration processes. McConnell’s clients hail from many industries, in particular from higher education, retail, financial services, insurance and traditional manufacturing settings. McConnell advocates on their behalf before the Federal and State courts, arbitrators, and administrative agencies, including the EEOC, NLRB, MCAD, Department of Labor and the Attorney General’s office.

Zoia handles a variety of employment matters facing businesses. A significant part of her practice involves providing day-to-day employment law counsel and advice. She advises in-house counsel and human resource professionals with wage and hour issues, workplace investigations, drug testing, hiring practices, employment policies and handbooks, reductions in force and employee leave matters. When litigation is necessary, Zoia skillfully defends employers against workplace allegations such as employment discrimination, retaliation, wrongful discharge, Family and Medical Leave Act claims, breach of contract, and wage and hour class actions.
